There are four ways to file a compliant with Code Enforcement:
Effective July 1, 2021, a person designated as a code inspector may not initiate an investigation of a potential violation of a duly enacted code or ordinance by way of an anonymous complaint. A person who reports a potential violation of a code or ordinance must provide his or her name and address to the governing body of the respective board or county commissioners before an investigation occurs. This paragraph does not apply if the person designated as a code inspector has reason to believe that the violation presents an imminent threat to public health, safety, or welfare or imminent destruction of habitat or sensitive resources.
The Code Enforcement Office is open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm. There is also an officer available on the weekends from 8 am to 4 pm.
If you have an emergency that cannot wait until normal working hours or if you need to contact the officer on duty during the weekend, you can call the Lighthouse Point Police Department dispatcher at 954-942-8080. They will either contact the Code Enforcement Officer, if on duty, or dispatch a Police Officer to investigate your complaint.
You can always visit the Code Enforcement Office during regular business hours to view the City’s code book. The City’s Code of Ordinances is also available online. At this screen you will be able to search or view the entire Code of Ordinances. If you have questions or need additional information, feel free to contact the Code Enforcement Office at 954-784-3409 and the staff will be happy to help you.
