The City of Lighthouse Point is opening limited park facilities to provide our residents opportunities to exercise and obtain other health benefits during this continuing pandemic.
Safe & Responsible Use of Frank McDonough Park
- Practice physical distancing (6 foot minimum).
- Facial covering must be worn at all times when social distancing cannot be maintained, other than while exercising or engaging in vigorous activity. Facial covering must be worn if within 6 feet of someone not in your household.
- Only City sanctioned approved sports training with cleats is allowed.
- No groups of more than 10 shall congregate in any area of the park. A minimum of 50 feet must be maintained between all groups.
- All CDC Guidelines regarding social distancing must be observed at all times by all persons using any area of the park.
- Report misuse of the park to Lighthouse Point Police Department: 954-942-8080

- Facial covering must be worn at all times when social distancing cannot be maintained, other than while exercising or engaging in vigorous activity. Facial covering must be worn if within 6 feet of someone not in your household.
- No groups of more than 10 shall congregate in any area of the park. A minimum of 50 feet must be maintained between all groups.
- All CDC Guidelines regarding social distancing must be observed at all times by all persons using any area of the park.
- Park open daylight hours only.
- Report misuse of the park to Lighthouse Point Police Department: 954-942-8080
Safe & Responsible Use of Exchange Club Park
- Practice physical distancing (6 foot minimum).
- Face cover must be worn if within 6 feet of someone not in your household.
- No recreational programming, pick-up games, organized sports or activities are allowed.
- No groups of 10 or more are allowed in the parks; smaller groups must maintain social distancing following CDC/Health Department guidelines. A minimum of 50 feet must be maintained between all groups.
- Keep park use to 1 to 2 hours maximum.
- Park open 8 am to sunset.
- Report Misuse of the park to Lighthouse Point Police Department: 954-942-8080
Tennis Center
The Lighthouse Point Tennis Center is open by reservation (please call 954-946-7306) for residents and members only. The Pro Shop and Pavilion are closed until further notice.
Visitors should follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines:
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
- Do not socialize in groups of more than 10.
- Put a distance of six feet between yourself and other people
- Wash your hands
City employees continue to follow CDC personal hygiene recommendations and are increasing the sanitization of our facilities.

Materials Takeout Service
On Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at 10 am the Lighthouse Point Library will restart its popular materials takeout service! Patrons may reserve physical books, DVDs, and audiobooks through the online catalog at lighthousepointlibrary.com or by calling the library at 954-946-6398 Monday through Friday from 10 am to 4 pm (closed holidays).
Once staff have retrieved the requested materials from the shelves, they will call the patron to confirm a pickup time. Bagged and labeled items will be available outside of the Library at the selected pickup time.
Materials takeout service gives patrons access to the entire library collection in a safe manner while the City Hall/Library building is closed to walk-in visitors.
Materials Return/Outdoor Drop Box
Starting Monday, June 1, 2020 at 10 am Lighthouse Point Library materials may be returned in the outside drop box. Remember since materials checked out from the Lighthouse Point Library in January, February, or March 2020 do not have a due date before June 20 there is plenty of time to return items. Only items checked out from the Lighthouse Point Library should be put in the drop box.
Assistance
The Lighthouse Point Library staff is available to answer questions via phone, 954-946-6398 Monday through Friday from 10 am to 4 pm. The Library’s eBooks, streaming audio, and digital resources are available 24/7.
Limited Office Hours
The Building Department is open, with very limited access to the public. Approved permits can be picked up, but arrangements must be made (1 hour) ahead of time by calling 954-943-6509 for instructions.
New permit applications are being accepted. They can be submitted via the drop box located at the front door of the Building Department, or see the list of acceptable permit applications being accepted electronically (PDF). There will be no fee to drop off new permit applications.
Effective Tuesday, May 26, 2020 the Community Shuttle will resume service.
COVID-19 Call Center
Broward County has partnered with the Florida Department of Health in Broward County to open a special telephone line to assist in answering public questions about COVID-19. Call takers can also conduct over-the-phone pre-screening for testing eligibility.
The COVID-19 Call Center can be reached at 954-357-9500 and will be accepting calls from 8 am to 8 pm 7 days a week.

Broward County Household Hazardous Waste Drop off Resumed Updated June 19, 2020
Broward County will be resuming Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Collections only starting on Saturday, June 20, 2020. Please note that the County has made operational changes that residents should be aware of:
- Drop off centers will be operating under abbreviated hours every Saturday from 9 am to 3 pm until further notice.
- At this time the County will not be accepting Bulk Trash or Yard Waste at any of the Residential Drop Off Centers until further notice.
- Resident’s will be required to follow CDC guidelines for social distancing and other safety measures which will be communicated through posted signage located throughout the Centers.
The nearest Residential Drop Off Center is located at 2780 N. Powerline Road, Pompano Beach, FL 33069.

Purpose
At Waste Management, we are committed to putting people first. The health and safety of our employees, customers and communities is our highest priority. The City of Lighthouse Point is feeling the effects of COVID-19 this week as Waste Management collection crews continue to miss work due to COVID-19 related illness. Please be patient, as your trash collection may be delayed.
- Based on the latest information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Public Health Agency of Canada, and federal, state and local agencies, Waste Management is taking necessary steps in response to social distancing recommendations, potential mitigation activity, and declared local states of emergency.
- Effective March 18, 2020, we are temporarily closing residential call centers to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). However, electronic customer communications are still available through email and live chat
- We are actively coordinating remote operations to serve our customers during this situation with the goal of resuming residential call handing as soon as possible.
- At this time, there is no impact to your scheduled residential collection service.
